To Post Or Not To Post?

Being new to this blogging and with recently having work published, I have found myself with a previously undiscovered quandary. What do I post and what do I keep off line?
Because if I decide to enter any competitions (which I have been debating a lot recently), I am frequently discovering that it must be something that I have not published or posted elsewhere (that includes this blog).
This in some ways annoys me, why should I not publish my work to my own blog? It is after all mine, yet if I wish to try and get it recognised in any other format then I must keep it hidden from view, just in case I decide to seek its publication as part of some future competition I might feel it suitable for.
Of course I understand that publishers want previously unpublished work in the hope that they can get people to purchase it solely through them, but it can still annoy me!
Perhaps it would be better if there was some sort of amendment, “we will accept submissions as long as its only appeared on your blog” (after all who else reads this but me ha ha.)
As yet I am trying to strike that fine balance of keeping some things aside in my “just in case” pile whilst having a separate pile for “maybe I’ll post these ones” which often becomes a “no better keep them off too” pile. I swear I should just put everything into a “procrastination” pile and leave it at that.
This writing journey of mine is a bit up in the air at the moment with my juggling of various other things, but the determination is still there and I still defiantly turn my attention to my novel on a daily basis (even if it is only solving an ongoing issue in my head).
My blog will still be written as much weekly as I can, as long as I can still find something to talk about or moan about (and let’s face it, us women are quite good at the latter) and I am endeavoring to utilise social media a bit more, marketing myself has never been my forte especially when my motto used to be,
“he who blows his own trumpet, very soon runs out of puff”
But if I don’t give it a go, I will never know. So look out for my updates on Twitter and Facebook as this writer gets to grips with both it and herself.
