No Rhyme No Reason

That is what goes through my head every time I attempt to write poetry that doesn’t rhyme, for me it just doesn’t sound right. Poems automatically rhyme in my head but there are some very good poems out there that don’t, however when I look at them I just think they look like snippets of descriptive writing from a novel or short story but someone went a bit nuts with the enter key. I also hate poems that go on and on and on for 50 verses or more, really? You might as well shove it in a book and call it a short story or even your nod to Shakespeare (ooh now there’s an idea!)

Now I am never one to shy away from a challenge so here is one of my attempts at the non rhyming prose, I look forward to any feedback and I will post a rhyming one at some point for comparison.

LOOK

Look Down

Light shimmers on crystal pools

Shattered by footprints

Time moves on

Shadows spring forth

Decimating sunlight

Moonlight drifts silently

A solitary traveller

Starlit footprints follow

Unheard, unsung, unseen

Look up
