I Want To Be A Tree

Nature is such a beautiful thing. I have been captivated by it so many times. Sunlight on a hill on a cold winter’s day, even the frost on the car in the early hours painted like brush strokes in some beautiful picture offered to some unknown love only to be washed away by the heat, lost forever.
Even the wind whose melancholy howl draws clothes tighter becomes more friendly in the summer months, a cool respite to a warm sun, rustling the leaves as if whispering hello.
The beauty in cherry blossoms before they scatter their flowers to the ground like confetti at a wedding.
I love the crunch of autumn leaves and how the trees take on a whole new beauty in autumn. The sight of sunlight catching on the ocean, making it shimmer and sparkle like forgotten treasures hidden in plain sight. The sound of the sea, the smell of the seaweed and the ocean spray, the call of seagulls reminds me of home.
I have seen so many descriptions of nature in books, of made up worlds which describe the curve of the land, the formation of rock and the landscape as if it is right in front of you and think to myself wow, what an imagination, but I only have to look outside to see where that inspiration comes from.
I often think that life would seem much simpler if I could take a leaf out of nature’s book….
I want to be a tree,
be flexible without breaking,
branch out and pursue my dreams,
feel the wind upon my face,
let the rain renew my spirit
and let all my worries drift to the ground like leaves and die away.
