okay to just breathe

I think my mind has been running in too many different directions of late that I have been forgetting to take my own advice and just stop and breathe for a minute.

Randomly today after forcing myself off the sofa to do something productive, I found myself just sitting in my library of books and just looking around me, looking through the window at the hills in the distance and just breathing.

It may have only been for a few minutes but those few minutes were the best few minutes in a crazy fast paced week/weekend in a long time. I felt renewed, like I’d just drank a gallon of coffee and felt my brain chug back into life. I felt free of all the stress and the worries of the year just melt away.

I suddenly found as I was scan reading a piece on the amazing powers of the human body that Bob made an appearance and inspiration for other story ideas took shape in my head, all from one sentence in what was otherwise a bog standard article.

That left me wondering, would Bob have been there if I hadn’t taken those few minutes to just breathe? Would inspiration have struck me or would I have just glossed over it in my rush to get onto the next thing on my to do list?

So even if your to do list is as long as mine (and believe me it’s a long one!) it doesn’t matter if you take a few minutes, or even a whole day to just breathe, do nothing but breathe.

You owe it to your own version of Bob, but more importantly you owe it to yourself. I can’t wait to see what inspires me next time I remember to just breathe for a minute.
